About Lisa Young, OD, FAAO

Dr. Lisa Young has been in practice for over 15 years and joined Chicago Glaucoma Consultants – CGC Center in 2009. Her specialized optometric training gives her a unique perspective in the treatment and management of the eyes and visual system. She works closely with the ophthalmologists in managing pre- and post-operative surgical care and specializes in the correction of the visual system through the use of eyeglasses and contact lenses.

A native of Champaign, Illinois, Dr. Young was influenced in her desire to care for people by her father, a neurologist. She received a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. Subsequently, Dr. Young went on for advanced training and elected to complete a primary care and ocular disease residency at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago.

Dr. Young has experience teaching optometric students and ophthalmology residents as a clinical instructor at the Illinois College of Optometry and the Chicago College of Optometry at Midwestern University. Drs. Brown and Gorla first met Dr. Young when she was instructing ophthalmology residents at Rush University Medical College.

Dr. Young is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and served as the inaugural chair of the Academy’s Glaucoma Section. She has been a member of the executive council of the Glaucoma Section of the American Academy of Optometry and the Illinois State Chapter of the Academy for many years. She is also a member of the Illinois Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the prestigious Optometric Glaucoma Society. She continues to remain active within the optometric community, lecturing locally and nationally, along with continued interest in research and patient care.
