Happy to announce that our contract with Cigna has been extended for at least 3 years. There will be NO lapse in coverage and will continue our agreement through Rush.

Rush Press Release:

We are pleased to report that Aetna and Rush have reached agreement on a new three-year contract. This means that there will be no lapse of in-network health insurance coverage for anyone with Aetna insurance who comes to Rush System for Health hospitals or Rush Health physicians. The existing rates will remain in effect under new agreements. More details on the new contract will be communicated in the coming days.

Aetna has withdrawn its termination letter that would have been effective Dec. 31, 2012.

We are pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement that is mutually satisfactory to both Aetna and Rush. This is a major accomplishment considering that we have been negotiating with Aetna since the end of 2011.Thank you to the Rush Health team and other senior leaders for their continued dedication and tireless work to collaborate on the agreement.

We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with Aetna and are extremely pleased that our Aetna patients can continue to receive full service at Rush and from Rush physicians.

Aetna will be sending a communication to its members and employers shortly and Rush Health also will be mailing letters to our active patients.

As a reminder, beginning January 1, 2013, Rush will partner with Cigna/Allegiance in the administration of the medical benefit plan for Rush employees. (Aetna will continue to administer our medical benefits through the end of 2012.)

We appreciate your patience as we worked through these issues with Aetna and were able to provide a positive outcome for all involved. Should you have any questions, please contact your Rush Health Provider Services Consultant at (312) 942-4061. Kathy Najarian
