Lisa M. Young, O.D.
Chicago Glaucoma Consultants is pleased to announce the newest associate to our staff: Dr Lisa Young, Optometrist.
Dr. Young was born and raised in Champaign, Illinois, where her desire to treat and care for people was influenced by her father, a neurologist. She received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa and Tomb and Key Optometric Honor Societies. Upon graduation, Dr. Young completed an elective primary care and ocular disease residency at the Illinois College of Optometry and the Illinois Eye Institute. In this additional year of training, Dr Young worked side by side with ophthalmologists in the treatment and management of patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and urgent care situations. Dr. Young has experience teaching optometric students and ophthalmology residents and is an adjunct clinical faculty member at the Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. Young first met Drs. Brown and Gorla at Rush University Medical College where she was working with their ophthalmology residents. She has been practicing at Chicago Glaucoma Consultants since the beginning of 2009. She works closely in the office managing urgent care patients and pre- and post- operative surgical care with Drs. Brown and Gorla. She also specializes in the management of vision through the use of eyeglasses and contact lenses and acts as a liaison to optometrists in the community.
Dr. Young is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, the Illinois Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness. She continues to remain active within the optometric community along with continued interest in research.
